Trillium School is proud of our record of 100% university placement.
At Trillium, academic excellence is expected from every student. Students, teachers and parents are greeted by a quote from Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” This idea is central to the culture of academic excellence at Trillium. Our high school students are exposed to advanced learning and leadership programs that are designed to prepare them for the challenges they will face in post-secondary education and beyond. We know humans are born with an infinite capacity which can be cultivated through education. Therefore, we believe in always searching for the very best in each other. The whole Trillium community works together to strive to thrive in teaching and learning excellence and is committed to continuous improvement.
At Trillium, our primary goal is academic excellence. We also value and believe strongly in fostering personal, social, life skills and character development. The development of character attributes and dispositions starts in the home and is reinforced in our school. Trillium is a dynamic place that emphasizes high standards and good character. The following five core character attributes are woven into our programs and practices and become part of every aspect of school life. These also set the standard for the entire Trillium community:
Many initiates are undertaken throughout the school year that help to reinforce good character, responsible citizenship, and a global perspective. Trillium School uses a range of measures to gauge the effect of character development. Indicators of success include student achievement, attendance, student engagement in academic and non-academic school activities, detention/suspension rates, etc.
Through our enriched academic and co-curricular programs, our students learn to develop and manage their academic, physical, emotional, and social well-being, and to live and work with others in different contexts. Participation leads to the development of healthy, resilient and confident individuals who possess strong leadership skills and balanced lives, and who know their own strengths and weaknesses and how to develop competences in order to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.
As we build good character, we build strong communities. We actively foster supportive, respectful and nurturing relationships among students, teachers, and parents, which allow students from diverse backgrounds to bring their feelings, thoughts, and experiences into the classroom, and also help parents take active roles both in the school and in their children’s education. The spirit of Trillium is characterized by a sense of belonging, passion, and collaboration. Our caring coeducational school community provides a safe and structured environment where students and staff are encouraged to accept and take care of one another. These qualities form the basis of our relationships with each other, and of responsible and empathetic citizenship.
