Guidance & University Placement

Lead students on the path to success

Planning the path to your dream university is an ongoing process at Trillium School, and we are proud of our record of 100% university placement. Our Guidance Counsellors are committed to helping our students identify and develop their individual passions and strengths, and preparing them for admission to, and success in, their post-secondary studies and future careers through both academic and co-curricular programs at Trillium.

Guidance

Boost your success

Integral to the individual support is our Guidance program, which teams each student with a Guidance Counsellor who addresses both academic and emotional needs – creating a four-year mentoring relationship that helps students discover their strengths, plans their academic requirements and supplements instruction to ensure their continued success in their post-secondary education. Guidance Counsellors are students’ anchors to help students achieve success at Trillium; their role is to guide, counsel, recommend, suggest, and inform in a way that eventually identifies each student’s best fit for their future.

We offer support and counselling regarding the academic and personal needs of each individual student in the following areas:

  • Provide counselling and support regarding course selections, problems with a course, extra help, or any other academic issue.
  • Communicate with teachers regularly to monitor students’ academic progress and update parents regularly.
  • Provide guidance on university application process and admission requirements.
  • Explain how Trillium’s academic and co-curricular programs help to prepare students for admission to, and success in, their post-secondary education.
  • Communicate with Grades 9 and 10 students and parents on early post-secondary planning strategies, including setting academic goals.
  • Arrange for students to attend the annual Ontario Universities’ Fair and set up tours at university campuses.
  • Facilitate visits from university representatives from across Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
  • Maintain positive relations with university admission offices.
  • Arrange for students to meet and get suggestions and advice from the Trillium alumni.

Guidance Counsellors help students understand the pathways to numerous career options available, such as the courses needed in high school for a specific career. They also assist students in making informed choices to have a successful transition from high school to post-secondary education.

Our Guidance Counsellors are always available to help students with different issues.

University Placement

Secure your success

Trillium School also provides a comprehensive and individualized University Placement Program. For each graduating student, our Guidance Counsellors monitor their progress during the application cycles and help refine their choices when making decisions. In this program, our Guidance Counsellors provide services in the following areas:

Trillium School students are prepared for the expectations and rigor of university. It is our goal that students opt to attend a post-secondary institution where they will confidently apply their knowledge, skills, global competencies, passions, and creativity, while being active and contributing members of their community.
